The Future of Security Funding

If you’ve been wondering about the future of the Nonprofit Security Grant Program (NSGP) – you are not alone! From the stock market to the Federal Reserve to the import/export sector, uncertainty and wariness of government policy is widespread.

Luckily, we do have some updates about the future of the NSGP, which has become a funding pillar for the security needs of many nonprofits. Here is what we currently know:

1. NSGP 2025 WAS funded in Congress’ Continuing Resolution (CR), at similar levels to FY2024. The grant will likely be open for a very brief window between the end of April and June, possibly for as short as 2 weeks.
2. The slowdown in reimbursement for current grants (in most states) is expected to be temporary. The NSGP is not being targeted specifically; rather, the slowdowns are part of an across-the-board federal freeze while the government reviews all funding commitments.
